Lucy Rose Fischer is a Minnesota artist and author who had a 25-year career as a researcher, specializing in the study of aging. She is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America for “outstanding achievement and exemplary contributions to the field of aging.” Approaching 60, she asked herself “How old do I have to be to follow my dream?” and launched her second career as an artist. She developed her own technique for creating luminous images on hand-blown glass bowls and vases—painting inside out, upside down and backward. Her art has been shown in more than 50 exhibitions in the Midwest, Europe, and Israel. She and her art were featured on the 2008 Twin Cities Public Television documentary The Creative Power of Aging.
